Intercooler Core

The core is the heart of any intercooler, responsible for cooling turbocharged air before it enters the engine. The factory tube and fin design is adequate at low boost but quickly overwhelmed at higher levels, leading to heat soak, power loss, and increased risk of pre-detonation at high RPMs.

The VRSF Race HD FMIC uses a bar and plate core with a staggered, high-density fin pack to deliver excellent intake temperature reduction while minimizing pressure drop. Its robust construction also offers better protection against rocks and debris compared to OEM tube and fin units.

Performance:
During intense driving (2nd to 5th gear pulls), OEM intercoolers often see intake temperatures rise 80–90°F. The VRSF intercooler drastically improves this—on a 54°F day, it maintained intake temps with only a 2°F rise compared to a 76°F rise on the OEM unit at 20 psi boost.
