The Nostrum F Series Flex Fuel Kit lets your BMW read ethanol content directly from your fuel tank — whether you’re running full E85, pure 93 octane, or any combination in between.


How It Works:

The kit includes a high-precision ethanol sensor pre-mounted on a custom bracket designed to fit your specific F Series model. It connects easily to your factory fuel lines using included adapter hoses.

This sensor communicates real-time ethanol content data to your preferred Ethanol Content Analyzer such as:

  • Nostrum ESIMM

  • Fuel-It! Bluetooth analyzer (view ethanol % on your phone!)

  • Zeitronix ECA-2 CANBus (for integration with factory ECU)

Note: This sensor does not enable flex fuel tuning by itself—you will need a compatible analyzer and tuning software.

Q: Why do horsepower numbers sometimes appear lower on E85 than on 93 octane?
A: The horsepower capacity numbers represent fuel system potential assuming ideal airflow and mechanical conditions, ignoring knock and other limits. Gasoline carries more energy per volume than E85, so higher fuel flow capacity can mathematically translate to higher potential power on gasoline. Actual power depends on many factors beyond fuel system capacity.


Q: Why do some tuners prefer port fuel injection upgrades over direct injection (DI) upgrades?
A: Some cars have both DI and port fuel injection (PFI) systems. Upgrading the PFI side can be simpler and cheaper in some cases. However, DI plays a critical role in charge cooling, especially with higher compression engines. Relying solely on PFI can increase injector heat and risk damage. For serious power, upgrading the DI system is usually more effective and reliable.
